Engineering: Wastewater Page Header

The nation’s wastewater infrastructure is aging. To protect public health and the environment, facilities and pipes need upgrades, repairs, or replacement. We team with our clients to develop tailored solutions: few firms offer our unique combination of process design, operations expertise, control systems implementation, and 24/7 SCADAServ control systems service. Whatever the concern – regulatory compliance, efficiency, cost-effective operations, or aesthetics – we will work with you to develop the best strategy to meet your needs.

Project Highlights
Engineering Partnership
Lowell, MA

Read about Woodard & Curran's long history of providing wastewater engineering work for Lowell, MA.

Wastewater Treatment Facility and Collection System Design
Town of Acton, MA

Woodard & Curran planned, designed, and oversaw the construction of a 250,000-GPD wastewater treatment facility and sewer system. The design addressed extensive regulatory concerns and won a significant funding from the Mass DEP SRF program: $24.4 million.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades to Meet Strict Phosphorus Removal Requirements
Town of Billerica, MA

Woodard & Curran is designing a CoMag facility to meet Billerica’s new NPDES permit, which requires extremely stringent phosphorus and aluminum removal. This revolutionary process effectively removes phosphorus and metals from wastewater.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades
City of Saco, Maine

Woodard & Curran designed and implemented a biological nutrient removal upgrade project at the Saco’s 4.2-MGD wastewater treatment facility using design/build approach.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades
Wheaton College

Woodard & Curran completed a series of thoughtfully engineered solutions that brought Wheaton’s existing 40-year-old wastewater treatment facility into compliance, which allowed the college to carefully plan and site a new facility with less regulatory pressure.

Infiltration/Inflow Management
Town of Braintree, Massachusetts

Woodard & Curran worked with Braintree to address significant water quality issues primarily associated with infiltration/inflow and sewer system overflows in its collection system. We managed programs Braintree needed to meet extensive requirements and designed the largest most effective infiltration project in Braintree’s ACO history.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades
Confidenfial Resort and Casino Establishment, CA
Woodard & Curran is upgrading the 100,000-GPD wastewater treatment facility at this resort and casino using a membrane bioreactor process to minimize the plant’s footprint and allow for construction within existing processes.
