Woodard & Curran Assumes Operations of Hull Water Pollution Control Facilities

Published: 5/11/2015

Woodard & Curran has been awarded a 10-year contract to provide full-service operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the Town of Hull, MA’s Water Pollution Control Facilities (WPCF). Under the agreement, the firm will take on all responsibility for staffing, operating, and maintaining the Town’s wastewater treatment plant and collections system.

The Town of Hull’s WPCF includes the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), seven wastewater pumping stations, 175 grinder pumps, and a collection system that includes approximately 40 miles of pipe. The Hull WWTP is a conventional activated sludge plant with a design capacity of 3.07 MGD, and the collection system serves approximately 4,000 residential and business connections to the WPCF. Woodard & Curran began operations on May 1, 2015, and the contract extends through April 30, 2025 with the opportunity for five one-year extensions.

Hull has used the public-private model of contract operations since 1988, which allows the town to focus on core services while its partner takes responsibility for specialized areas of operations.
