Our vision is what drives us, each and every day, to protect and improve the quality of life of our people, our clients, and our communities. We do this through the projects and programs we deliver, which includes our community engagement and volunteering efforts.
Our employees want to connect to their communities, and we want to provide them with a valuable resource to do so: time. In 2019, we added a volunteer time off (VTO) benefit, offering eight hours of paid time to support employee participation in volunteer activities. This benefit allows us to both track the volunteer hours logged and discover the organizations with which our employees volunteer. In 2019, after our first year of the formal benefit being launched, we had 27 percent of employees participate, logging 1,584 hours. Participation grew to 28 percent of employees in 2022.
To provide additional opportunities for employees to engage in their communities, in 2022 we held our second Woodard & Curran Day of Service. Throughout the spring, employees participated in group volunteer activities, maximizing the impact we have in our communities across the country. Dedicated employees from each location around the country organized a variety of community service projects, including stream and beach clean-ups, trail maintenance, and native planting projects.
In addition to our community engagement program to connect our people with organizations across the country, our employees are the heart of the Woodard & Curran Foundation. We encourage our people to become involved in the work of the Foundation and will continue to provide the time and resources to further their mission.
