Woodard & Curran Welcomes New Sustainability & ESG Practice Leader

Headshot image of Tanis Marquette, Sustainability & ESG Practice Leader Woodard & Curran is pleased to announce Tanis Marquette, CSP, SEP, SMCP has joined the firm as Sustainability & ESG Practice Leader. This growing service develops and refines tailored environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability programs. The practice’s structured, yet innovative approach drives meaningful outcomes in alignment with clients’ goals and values.

Tanis comes to the firm with nearly 30 years of experience leading sustainability strategy and EHS programs across global specialty chemical companies, Hexion, PQ Corporation, and Ecovyst. During her tenure as Global Sustainability Leader for Hexion, Environmental Leader recognized Tanis for her innovative approaches to materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement. Under her watch, Hexion also became the first-ever company certified to the UL 880 Sustainability for Manufacturing Organizations Standard.

While she has been considered a trailblazer in corporate sustainability for the last 15 years, Tanis is still active in the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and received the 2018 Safety Professional of the Year award from the Council on Practices and Standards. She recently co-authored the safety and sustainability chapter for the newest edition of ASSP’s “Safety Professional’s Handbook,” slated for release in summer 2022.

Tanis has made significant contributions to the development of safety and sustainability standards such as ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management, NAHB-ICC 700 National Green Building standard, and the NSF 355 Greener Chemicals and Processes Information standard. She currently serves on the BPA Worldwide Board of Directors and is actively involved with the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.
