Chief Technologist / Industrial Waste Treatment
Hugh is the firm’s Industrial Waste Treatment Chief Technologist. He has engineered and managed water, wastewater, and stormwater projects for industry, the federal government, and municipalities for decades. His experience includes both traditional design-bid-build and design-build projects where he has designed innovative solutions to manage and treat stormwater and groundwater, including work on Superfund sites. He has evaluated and designed waste management and treatment systems for heavy industry, mining, petroleum, food and beverage, pulp & paper, and pharmaceutical companies. His experience also includes water distribution system evaluation and planning along with environmental compliance projects such as cross-connection surveys, water conservation plans, wastewater and stormwater discharge surveys, emergency response plans, and stormwater management plans.
I became interested in water and wastewater when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, W. Africa. A drought and poverty regularly subjected my neighbors and me to disease and parasites. Environmental engineering has been a great way to address these basic human needs.
