Announcing 2020 Senior Principals

Woodard & Curran is pleased to announce nine new Senior Principals of the firm. During the annual stockholders meeting, held virtually for the first time ever, the following individuals were elected:

Bob Amaral, Director of Technical Practices, has more than 24 years of instrumentation and control project experience for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment and leads the firm’s automation, SCADA, and asset management technology practices. His experience covers control panel design, developing electrical drawings, creating process and instrumentation diagrams, PLC programming, and operator interface screen development.

Kenneth Danila, Director of Information Systems, leads all aspects of Woodard & Curran’s information technology activities, including strategic technology initiatives to better serve clients, collaborate across the company, and maintain excellent data security. He leads initiatives to modernize collaboration platforms and streamline infrastructure for improved inter-office functionality. 

Justin deMello, Project Manager 2, has more than 15 years professional experience in wastewater, water, and water resource projects for public and private clients. His municipal infrastructure experience includes planning, permitting, detailed design, bidding, construction oversight, construction administration, and start-up and operations of water and wastewater treatment and conveyance systems. He leads Woodard & Curran’s Lakeland, Florida office.

Leslie Dumas, Senior Technical Leader, has 30 years of experience as a hydrologist, water resource engineer, and project manager providing hydrogeologic, hydrologic, environmental, and scientific consultation for projects across the country. She manages multi-disciplinary teams on a wide variety of projects, including water resources planning, funding, financing, groundwater investigation, modeling, resource planning, environmental permitting, stormwater runoff planning, and the investigation and clean-up of hazardous waste sites.

Scott Medeiros, Senior Client Manager, has more than 25 years of engineering design and construction experience with both consulting engineering firms and a heavy civil contractor. His experience includes both public and private projects that range from large urban transportation and infrastructure improvements to smaller commercial, industrial, or residential development. Scott works with clients to identify funding opportunities and develop critical infrastructure projects to support economic development and protect both residents’ health and the environment.

Mark Pietrucha, Senior Project Manager, is a Professional Engineer and Licensed Site Remediation Professional with more than 20 years of experience in environmental and civil engineering consulting. Experienced in bringing to closure sites with soil, groundwater, and/or vapor intrusion issues, Mark’s expertise is in remediation of industrial sites and redevelopment of brownfield sites. As a member of the Board of Trustees and current Vice President of Internal Affairs of the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional Association, he has helped shape the state’s regulatory approach and environmental policy. 

Brian Ravens, Business Controller for the firm’s Operations and Management business unit, serves as a strategic financial partner providing monthly reports that include financial statements, financial forecasts, and annual budget file. Since 1997, his experience includes work as an analyst and accountant with a demonstrated expertise in financial modeling around projects and the preparation and analysis of reports that summarize and forecast financial position. 

Jim Sturgis, Structural Discipline Leader, has more than 30 years of structural engineering experience at Woodard & Curran serving the municipal, industrial, and design-build markets. His experience covers the design of new building structures, modifications to existing structures, condition assessments and code evaluations of existing buildings and treatment facilities, structural concrete repairs, and specialty coatings. He leads a growing team that provides project expertise for the evaluation, planning, design, modification, and construction of structures. Jim also founded and organizes Woodard & Curran’s annual ski trip to Sunday River, which celebrated its 21st anniversary in March. 

Tony Valdivia, Senior Technical Leader, is an expert in hydraulic modeling and surge analysis who specializes in planning and design of municipal infrastructure projects, including new pump stations, pipelines, stormwater detention facilities, and treatment facilities, as well as the design of improvements for existing infrastructure. He has overseen potable and reclaimed water system conveyance facilities through early planning to construction and startup assistance.
