The City of St. Charles Wastewater Treatment Facility, operated by Woodard & Curran, has been named the small treatment facility recipient of the 2014 Safety Survey Award by the Missouri Water Environment Association (MWEA). The award, which recognized Woodard & Curran for its achievements in safety compliance in the operation of the wastewater treatment facility, was presented at a luncheon during the organization’s Joint Annual Meeting on March 30, 2015 in Osage Beach, MO.

"Safety is one of the top priorities of our company, and it is an honor to be recognized with this award," Shannon Eyler, Director of Health and Safety at Woodard & Curran. "Our St. Charles team is dedicated to achieving safety in the workplace and providing a high level of service to the city, and this is a welcome acknowledgement of our employees’ commitment to safety each and every day."

The Safety Survey Award is given annually by the MWEA to wastewater treatment plants in the state of Missouri that achieve the highest level of safety compliance. Winners are chosen based on considerations of total hours worked by the treatment plant staff, treatment facility process elements, flow, number of accidents, and lost time due to accidents for the calendar year.

Woodard & Curran assumed operations of the St. Charles wastewater treatment facility, which includes the Mississippi River and Missouri River wastewater treatment plants, in 2014 under a 10-year agreement. The facilities treated a combined average of 17 million gallons of wastewater per day.
