Woodard & Curran Announces 2022 Slate of Senior Principals

Woodard & Curran is pleased to announce 13 new Senior Principals elected at the annual stockholders meeting:

Mike Apfelbaum, PG, Senior Project Manager, is a licensed professional geologist with more than 20 years of experience managing site and remedial investigations, developing conceptual site models, feasibility studies, and implementation of remedial alternatives to address soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water impacts. He has managed a range of projects, including groundwater treatment systems, implementation of in-situ chemical oxidation, chemical reduction and thermal remediation technologies, and characterization of subsurface impacts in a variety of hydrogeological environments.

Patrick Cyr, PE, BCEE, Industrial Water National Practice Leader, has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of industrial water and wastewater for an array of industries, including alternatives evaluations, process design through detailed design, and system installations. He assists industrial clients with water and wastewater issues, such as characterization and sampling, conceptual and detailed design, performance evaluations and troubleshooting, wastewater treatment system process/capacity evaluations, wastewater characterization and treatability studies, regulatory compliance evaluations, construction and start-up assistance, wastewater system modeling, and value engineering studies.

Brian Dietrick, Senior Project Manager, specializes in facilities planning, integrated planning, and program management for recycled water, drinking water, and wastewater projects. His experience ranges from technical planning for collection systems and distribution systems to groundwater recharge facilities, integrated regional water management plans, urban water management plans, and environmental impact and regulatory compliance reports. Brian’s design experience includes recycled water pipelines, large-diameter trunk sewer relief and replacement projects, sewer force mains, and sewer rehabilitation. He is also experienced in funding, cost estimating, industrial waste discharge, and public outreach. Brian served as the Regional Manager for the Recycled Water group from 2020 to 2022.

Greg Frieden, Operations & Management Area Manager, brings more than 30 years of experience in water operations, domestic and industrial wastewater treatment, and public works operations to his role managing five operations sites. Greg has gained innumerous hours of hands-on experience managing water and wastewater facilities. He has assisted with wastewater treatment facility and collection system design, construction, and start-up.

Jen Glynn, Senior Technical Leader, has more than 25 years of wide-ranging experience in infrastructure design and construction, managing projects from concept through completion, with special attention to sensitive issues such as endangered habitat preservation or utility laden, heavily trafficked corridors. To date, she is responsible for the condition assessment and design of over 120 miles of pipeline ranging in size from 2 inches to 120 inches in diameter. She is a recognized expert in the field of trenchless technology and focuses on using the most advanced technologies during projects, including proficiency in the use of large diameter trenchless rehabilitation systems. Past Executive Board of Director for the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT), she is a NASTT course instructor and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Western Regional Chapter of NASTT.

Zach Henderson, Stormwater Practice Leader, has more than 20 years of experience dedicated to municipal stormwater management and water resource programs. His focus is on planning, compliance, and stormwater asset management across New England in partnership with several long-standing municipal clients on building better stormwater programs. Zach is an advocate for the clean water industry and currently sits on the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance Board of Directors, is an active member of the Water Environment Federation’s Stormwater Institute, works regionally with the New England Stormwater Collaborative and New England Water Environment Association, and locally with the Maine Water Environment Association’s Stormwater Committee.

Rowena Holden, SHRM – SCP, SPHR, Director of HR Solutions, has 25 years of experience leading teams as well as nearly 20 years of experience in human resources, most of which has been in various capacities here at Woodard & Curran. In her current role, she leads the development, implementation, and enhancement of critical strategies around talent and organizational effectiveness while overseeing the HR Technology, Payroll, and Learning teams. She develops, champions, and implements augmented talent management strategies and processes, including the recent rollout of the firm’s performance enablement initiative. She is a subject matter expert on mentoring and coaching, performance and development, talent assessment, and leading teams.

Dave Kitzmiller, Operations & Management Operations Leader, supports project locations the western United States. He has nearly 30 years of experience in water, wastewater, water reuse, and steam operations. Throughout his career, he has gained hands-on experience and managed several different sites. Dave has assisted with wastewater treatment facility and collection system design, construction, and start-up.

Brian McGrath, Senior Project Manager, offers more than 20 years of experience in the fields of environmental compliance and occupational health and safety. Brian has a broad range of industry experience providing assistance to manufacturing clients, utilities, municipalities, laboratories and academic institutions. With a background in analytical chemistry, environmental management, and policy development, his expertise includes hazardous waste management, development, and implementation of EHS management systems, occupational health and safety auditing, multimedia environmental compliance auditing, process safety management (PSM), and risk management planning (RMP).

Brendan McLaughlin, P.E., Business Development Leader for our Industrial & Commercial Strategic Business Unit, has 25 years of experience in client relationship management, project management, consulting, engineering, and construction. Brendan sets market direction and leads teams of client facing and technical resources to maximize the firm’s value to our industrial clients, primarily in the food & beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.

Jason Muche, Operations & Management Area Manager, has more than 23 years of experience operating, managing, and overseeing public and private wastewater plants in North America. Jason currently oversees seven industrial projects in the western United States. His focus is on the industrial treatment of high strength wastes from food processing facilities. Jason’s experience includes client management, startups, permitting, anaerobic and aerobic treatment, biological nutrient removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, laboratory auditing and testing, solids removal and thickening, chemical reduction, and operations.

Mike Pratt, Operations & Management Area Manager, is responsible for 600 square miles of water and sewer operations, managing our contract with St. Charles County, Missouri’s Public Water Supply District Number 2 and East Central Missouri Water and Sewer Authority. Mike spent more than 26 years serving as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army, with experience as Commander and District Engineer of the New England District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, during which time he was responsible for planning, engineering, contracting, construction, real estate actions, and regulatory functions in support of military installations and Federal water resources throughout the 66,000 square miles of New England. He retired in 2002 and went on to serve as Director of Public Works for the City of St. Charles, Missouri and as the Director of Public Works for Fort Hood, Texas prior to joining Woodard & Curran.

Jedd Steinglass, Senior Project Manager, has more than 23 years of experience specializing in environmental assessment and remediation design, including project management and technical expertise for the redevelopment and adaptive re-use scenarios of commercial, industrial, and institutional properties. His technical, programmatic, and funding acquisition and management capabilities have contributed to the success of several EPA-funded Brownfields assessment and cleanup projects. Jedd’s work also focuses on the proper characterization, management, and disposal of hazardous building materials, including asbestos, lead, and PCBs, with a recent focus as a key environmental consultant for an international aircraft services client in the remediation and management of PFAS-containing firefighting products and systems.
