Steven McCurdy Appointed Massachusetts Commissioner with New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission

Steven McCurdy, Woodard & Curran’s North Region Fiscal Services Lead, has been appointed a Massachusetts Commissioner with the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC). As one of several commissioners for Massachusetts, McCurdy will work with the other commissioners for his state, those from other states, and numerous stakeholders throughout the region to support NEIWPCC’s mission to advance clean water in the Northeast through collaboration with, and service to, its member states. Commissioners play a critical role in setting NEIWPCC’s priorities, evaluating staff programs and projects, and representing their state’s interests.

NEIWPCC was established following an act of Congress in 1947 that allowed the formation of interstate water pollution control commissions to address the impacts of an industrial and population boom. NEIWPCC helps the states of the Northeast preserve and advance water quality, engaging and convening water quality professionals and other interested parties from New England and New York to cooperate on water, wastewater, and environmental science challenges across shared regions, ecosystems, and areas of expertise.

“I’m honored to serve with my fellow commissioners to foster solutions to the region’s most critical water challenges,” said McCurdy. “This organization has done amazing work throughout its long history, and I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most influential and forward-thinking members of the water profession.”

Before McCurdy joined Woodard & Curran, he served as chief financial officer with the MassDEP in addition to 19 years as the director of Municipal Services, also with MassDEP, where be managed State Revolving Fund and other Clean Water Act funded grant programs. As a Fiscal Solutions leader, he consults with clients on infrastructure financing options and opportunities to support critical water projects.
